Vigo County Schools will receive a $50,000 grant from the state of Indiana.
The grant goes to the school corporation for participating in the school officer resource program. The state legislature authorized the money in the last session to increase school security across the state.
Vigo County Schools, along with County and Terre Haute City government are already splitting the cost of a $700,000 program that puts an officer in every school.
The grant money will be used to provide additional training for those officers, many of whom are retired from various local departments.
