Two former Sullivan County officials were in court this week to plead guilty to three counts of wire fraud after a grand jury indictment in April.
Authorities say that 51 year old Frank Mejean, who was the Jefferson Township Trustee and his wife, 48 year old Antonnette Mejean, who was the township clerk and township investigator, embezzled over $100,000.
Officials say that the Mejeans have reimbursed the township $61,064.63.
If the plea is accepted by the federal court, the pair faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.
Officials say that the maximum sentence is unlikely, as the court will consider factors such as their plea, accepting responsibility, and other federal sentencing guidelines.
