Disaster often means an opportunity for scam artists.
Sgt. Joe Watts with the Indiana State Police say that they are on the lookout for those who would take your money and not use it to help others.
Watts says that there are those that would go door to door or make or make phone calls asking for monetary donations.
If you feel like you are being scammed, try and collect as much information as possible and call police. Watts also warns that you should ask for I.D. and never let them enter your house.
If you are suspicious collect as much information as you can including a name, description of the person and their vehicle, including color, make, and license number and then notify police.
