Last night the Terre Haute City Council interviewed applicants for the position of council financial adviser.
The council fees like they want their own advisor in helping to solve the city's current budget uncertainty.
Three applied for the position: Earl Elliott of Sackrider and Company from Terre Haute, Ryan Perkins of Larrison's Tax service also from Terre Haute and Michael Williams an accountant and governmental consultant from Bloomfield.
The council says that they want an accountant with knowledge of government budgets and will explain the parts of the budget they don't understand.
The person hired is expected to also provide advice on how to proceed with less revenue and higher expenses.
The city council has allotted 20,000 dollars from the controller’s budget to pay for the advice.
The city council will vote on a hire on June 6th before their regular sunshine meeting.
