The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported rape that occurred on April 29th around 12:30pm, in the Fowler Park Wilderness Area.
The Wilderness Area is not located within the main park, but is located in a remote area to the east - off Bono Road.
The female victim reported that she had gone to the area to go mushroom hunting.
The woman says that as she travelled down a gravel roadway leading to the fishing area, she passed a parked older two-tone blue Chevrolet or GMC pickup.
The victim states she noticed three males standing near the bed of the truck, and noticed a beer can setting on the bed rail.
She states as she passed the white male made a derogatory comment towards her, because she was riding a moped.
She continued on and walked into the wooded area.
A few minutes later she heard a voice and looked up to find the same three males standing on a hill side peering down at her.
They then chased her down and one of the black males raped her and then all three fled.
The woman says that the white male was wearing a ball cap, t-shirt and blue jeans. He was described as having brown shaggy hair, and poor teeth.
The two black males had facial hair and were wearing hats, torn jeans, and boots.
All three individuals were believed to be in their mid 20’s to early 30’s.
Pictured is a pickup that looks very much like the truck the woman described but is not the actual truck
