A very sad story about a Terre Haute woman who died alone in her North Terre Haute home and no one seemed to notice for six months.
Neighbors and friends said that they hadn’t heard from her in quite a while.
One of those neighbors did fined 65 year old Mary Remley Thursday, lying in a make shift bed under the front window of her home wearing winter cloths and boots.
Mary was a widow whose family had either already passed on or moved away.
When police found the obituary of her late husband, they learned that Mary did have a son who was living in California, a son who for some reason hadn’t spoken with his mother for 10 years.
She apparently spent her time between her house and the Conner House, which is a shelter for homeless women.
She may have gone to the Conner House just to have someone to talk with.
Mary Remley apparently kept track of the passing days by marking them off of a calendar.
The last day marked off was November 13, 2012.
