An article in today’s Terre Haute Tribune Star reports that the Terre Haute Housing Authority expect to close the Deming Center, a low-income housing facility at Sixth and Cherry streets downtown.
It is the last remaining historic downtown hotel.
Tenants from the building will be moved to a new Housing Authority facility planned for a renovated Warren Elementary School on North 25th Street.
The move is expected in early 2015.
The new facility will have more outdoor space, parking and larger rooms.
Total cost is expected to be around $15 million dollars.
What will happen to the Deming Building?
Right now no one knows or if they do they aren’t talking.
