A makeover in the works for the train at Deming Park that is known at the Spirit Of Terre Haute.
The expansion would cost nearly $200,000 and Indiana Rail Road has agreed to help fund much of the project.
Rose-Hulman students designed the new layout that would double the track to about a mile. The plans also include adding a trestle, a crossing signal and gate across a park road, as well as a train depot.
The Parks Department says if construction starts this year, the expansion could be finished sometime next year.
Ticket prices could increase slightly to help with costs and maintenance.
