Voting in Vigo County will likely look a little different in 2014 if County Clerk David Crockett has his way.
Voting at your local neighborhood precinct is the way voting has been done for years.
Over the past decade or so you have been able to vote early at the court house or at few voting centers.
Crockett wants to do away with precinct voting altogether and have everyone go to voting centers.
Currently Vanderburgh, Tippecanoe, Switzerland, Blackford, Cass, Wayne and Johnson counties use vote centers and Floyd County will offer them in 2014.
By law, the election board, Vigo County Council and Vigo County Board of Commissioners must all give their approval. Crockett foresees 15 to 17 vote centers in Vigo County evenly split between the city and county.
The county would also have to drop the paper ballots and convert to electronic voting.
That would also mean about 700 fewer poll workers would be needed.
