Local police break up what appears to be part of a rooster fighting ring.
Vigo and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies obtained a search warrant and carried it out at the Charles Piker property which is just off of State Road 246.
Police found a barn with nearly 100 roosters pinned up in cages.
They also found several dead roosters as well as badly injured ones.
Another search warrant was carried out in Sullivan County at the residence of Jeffrey McMahan.
Police say that they found more evidence of rooster fighting and a large amount of marijuana. Both men are in police custody.
Right now police say this is a case of animal abuse at the least and possibly worse.
Animal fighting is a class D felony, a sentence that carries up to three years in prison.
