Illinios State Senator Wants To Help High Performing High School Students

High-performing Illinois high school students could gain automatic acceptance to the Illinois University of their choice - as long as they study math, science or technology.

State Sen. Chapin Rose, who is a Republican from Mahomet, says that to qualify, students would need at least a 28 on their ACT, and finish high school with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Some, like Sen. Melinda Bush who is a Democrat from Grayslake, says that those aren't fair requirements since there are times where people don't test well.
