A couple of new building projects on the horizon for the city of Clinton.
A former overalls factory on South 4 th Street is slated to be converted into about twelve apartments, and a former plastics plant on the city’s north side, will be torn down and replaced with about 58 other apartments.
The city bought both properties at a discount through a county tax sale.
Property taxes haven’t been paid on the 4 th Street property since the late 1990s.
The city will only have to pay for demolition since additional funding will come from two state grants worth about $8 million.
There is also other state and federal funds that will help with the projects.
The projects are expected to wrap up in 2014.
