An update on a fatal accident Sunday, that left a former Terre Haute Mayor in an Indianapolis hospital and her husband dead.

72 year old Brent Anderson and his wife and former Mayor Judy Anderson were traveling west on US 40 near Reelsville in Putnam County when their car went off the road and hit a tree.

Brent Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy results show that he died of a heart attack and injuries sustained in the crash did not play a part in his death.

Results also show that he had heart issues including clogging of the arteries.

Meanwhile, Judy Anderson is now reported to be in good condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

A Former Terre Haute Mayor seriously hurt and her husband killed in a weekend car crash.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department reports that for some unknown reason the car that Brent Anderson was driving went off of US 40 near Reelsville and hit a tree.

Brent Anderson was killed and his wife, former Mayor Judy Anderson was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital with critical injuries.

Judy Anderson served as Terre Haute's Mayor from 2000 to 2004.

Police are continuing to investigate.
