Crime is down in Vigo County, or at least the number of calls for help is down.
Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing says that the department responded to 16 percent fewer 911 calls in June compared to May.
The Terre Haute Police Department also reports a 30 percent drop in calls compared to May.
Overall 911 calls in Vigo County are slightly up from one year ago, according to the 911 office.
The increase in calls could mainly be attributable to the fact that with so many cell phones, 911 could receive several dozen calls for the same accident.
