A local fixture in television news signs off for the last time Friday night.

Mark Allen started his career at WTWO TV 2 in 1967 behind the scenes as a production assistant.

He went on the air in 1971 and for many years co-anchored the news on WTWO alongside another legend in the Wabash Valley, the late Johnny Palmer.

Eventually he would rise to general manager at WTWO.

Allen would eventually leave WTWO and move across town to WTHI TV10.

He has been at the anchor desk ever since.

Through those years he has help News 10 to become the dominate station in the Valley.

After almost 50 years Mark Allen signed off for the last time Friday night to start a new life journey in retirement.

All of us who knew Mark or just watched over the years wish him well.

Patrice Dayton remains as anchor on News 10 and will now be joined by Mike Cleff starting Monday July 1st.
