The Vigo County School Board last night decided to move forward on a $9 million dollar swimming pool project.
The administration says that the pools at the three area high schools are in need of renovations and that would cost around $10 million dollars.
What they are proposing is spending $9 million dollars to build a new pool somewhere in Vigo County for the three schools to share.
Officials say that the current facilities do not meet requirements for competitions.
The School Board voted to move the project to its next step, which is a public hearing.
That will take place on July 22nd.
The administration says that they will pay for this project buy going into debt by using a bond issue.
They propose remodeling the current pool areas into classrooms.
