Warmer weather means that more mopeds are out on the road.
There are laws governing the mini bikes and local law enforcement wants us to remind you about some of those rules.
They are a way to get around for those with a DUI or just trying to save money on gas.
Current Indiana law states that if you are under 15 you can’t operate a moped and if you are between 15 and 18 you must wear a helmet and goggles.
You can’t go over 25 mph and you can only take a passenger if the bike is designed for tow.
Even though they aren’t a motor vehicle, starting July 1st mopeds must be registered with the BMV and they'll be given a license plate.
