UPDATE With More Information On 2 Accidents On I-70

Two accidents on I-70 Monday afternoon.

In the first accident a pick-up truck crashed into an INDOT truck near the 4 mile marker in the east bound lanes.

Indiana State Police say that 44 year old Rick Porter, of West Terre passed one Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance vehicle, warning of a lane change ahead.

Porter didn’t move over and struck the second INDOT vehicle in the rear.

That truck was driven by 53 year old David Evans of Terre Haute.

Porter suffered facial injuries and was treated at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Evans was not uninjured.

INDOT crews were cleaning bridges at the time of the crash.

Then another accident that appears to be caused by the first.

This happened near the 2 mile marker near the Clear Creek Rest Area.

The Vigo County Sheriffs Department reports that a semi driven by 32 year old John W. Stricklin of Redfield, AR didn’t slow down in time was slammed into 6 stopped cars.

The truck jack-knifed and blocked both eastbound lanes.

Striklin was treated at Regional Hospital for weakness and elebated blood pressure.

A driver of one of the cars was treated for back and neck injuries.

None of the injuries appeared life threatening.

No injuries were reported in that crash.

Then another accident that appears to be caused by the first.

This happened near the 2 mile marker near the Clear Creek Rest Area.

All lanes are now open after two accidents in the eastbound lanes of I-70.

Around 2 p.m. a semi wound-up on its side across both lanes completely blocking traffic at the 4 mile marker.

There was also another accident at the 2 mile marker.

Very few details are yet available in either accident.

No word on any injuries or the cause of the accidents.
