The Lawrence County Animal Shelter was gutted by an apparent arson fire Tuesday morning.
Now many volunteers have come forward to try and put things back together.
Authorities suspect the fire here was set to try and cover up a burglary.
Even though the volunteers may be able to clean up and salvage some of the equipment, the fire did so much damage to the structure that despite their efforts the long term solution for the shelter will either be massive repairs or total replacement.
Right now work is proceeding on the kennel area to make it usable again. No animals were hurt as whoever set the fire released all of the animals first.
If you know who may be responsible for the fire contact authorities.
