A Terre Haute pharmacy is in trouble for allegedly filling a large number of prescriptions for out-of-state customers who always paid in cash.
The Indiana Attorney General's says that Hoosier Prescription Shop on South 7th Street here in Terre Haute, and its owner, Ashok Patel dispensed approximately 22,000 oxycodone tablets to 71 patients between February and August 2012.
Those patients paid $53,000 cash for the pills.
Court documents say the average patient was 41 years old, and the average prescription was 122 tablets.
Most customers were from Kentucky, but others were from Ohio, Georgia and Florida.
Patel is expected to appear before the Pharmacy Board next month.
Officials say that they received a tip from the company that supplies the pills to the pharmacy.
