The Vigo County Council has voted to approve nearly $400,000 in repairs to the Vigo County Jails heating and air-conditioning system.
If the system should fail the county would be hit with the cost of housing 130 inmates in other near by jails.
The council also made adjustments to work needing to be done to the leaky court house dome.
Those adjustments brought the cost down from just over $220,000 to around $110,000. The dome repair would provide 20 years of warranted maintenance as long as the county applies a new clearcoat sealant on the dome every two years.
The council is also taking a hard look at their budgeting.
The county budgets $130,000 annually to maintain 6 buildings.
The city maintains two buildings and budgets $150,000.
