Just one day after the Associated Press reported that former state School Superintendent Tony Bennett tried to influence how at least one school was graded, the state has announced an investigation.
Current Superintendent Glenda Ritz says her department is examining all grades awarded to schools under the state's accountability system to ensure that no school has a mark it doesn't deserve.
Indiana Senate President Pro Tem David Long has called for an annual outside audit of the grading system.
The A-P says that they have obtained emails that show Bennett tried to give Christel House Academy a higher grade than it deserved as a favor to a large political donor.
Bennett is now Florida's education commissioner and denies the accusations.
