The Edgar County Board approved funding for a project to improve the Edgar County Airport.
The Board voted on approval to accept the offer of two grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The first grant of just under $600,000 will expand the west apron and the second grant of just over $300,000 will pay to move some fuel tanks, add in a bigger fuel tank and install proper equipment along with a credit card reader that would allow pilots to fuel at any time.
The County will pay roughly $63,000 on both projects.
IDOT grants will not use any local taxes or income taxes to fund these projects.
Board members voted on accepting the grants Wednesday morning and are currently working on a strategy for the most economical way to acquire the remaining funds for both projects.
