Data released by the U.S. Census Bureau is giving new insight into child poverty rates in school districts across the country.
In late December, the bureau released its annual Small Area Income and Poverty Estimate, a collection of data including the number of students in each school district and the number of those students living in poverty.
According to those numbers, about 21 percent of Vigo County Students lived in poverty in 2011, down slightly from about 25 percent five years earlier.
While some neighboring school districts reported an increase in the percentage of students living in poverty, others reported a decline.
