A Vermillion County man is in police custody and facing charges after leading police on a high speed chase. A little after 8 Monday night Parke County sheriff's deputies tried to stop a truck after they say it tried to run another car off the road at U.S. 41 and State Road 163.
Police stopped the driver, 42-year-old James Vandevender, but when deputies approached Vandevender allegedly tried to run them over.
He then led police on a high speed chase that ended near the intersection of County Road 240 East and Center Street after Vandevender crashed into a tree.
Police say during their investigation they found two active meth labs in Vandevender's truck.
Vandevender was treated for a leg injury at an Indianapolis hospital.
