Police are investigating an inmate death at the New Castle Correctional Facility Thursday.

37 year old Jeremiah K. Taylor was found at the bottom of a stairwell inside the prison.

Taylor was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he succumbed to his injuries Friday morning.

Investigators believe that Taylor had been beaten shortly before being found in the stairwell.

Taylor was serving eight years for convictions on a child molest charge out of Noble County and had been in prison since July 2012.

The case is still under investigation.
