The Vigo County Council has been named in a federal civil lawsuit over redistricting.

The lawsuit is filed through the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of a local resident and alleges that the commissioners failed to follow the law when redistricting after the 2010 Census and that the new council districts are not equal in size.

The current districts vary in size, with differences of as much as 33 percent.
