Emergency responders are called out to help rescue a horse that escaped her corral Sunday morning in southern Vigo County.
Vigo County Sheriffs Deputies say that they were called to 13326 S. US Hwy 41because homeowner Jack Harvey had found that a horse had fallen through his swimming pool cover and into the water filled pool.
No one knew for sure how long the horse had been in the cold water.
The horse was straddling one of the pool cover straps that go across the pool in the deep end.
The horse's front legs were touching the bottom of the pool on the ramp section, but the rear legs were too far in the deep end.
The horse was becoming very lethargic and shivering from the cold and was going in and out of consciousness.
With allot of effort the horse was moved to the shallow in and was persuaded to walk of the steps and out of the pool.
The horse was then moved inside a heated garage and treated by a vet for hypothermia.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
The owner of the horse was located and she was taken back home.
The owner says that they horse is blind.
