Authorities are searching for a convicted murderer who was mistakenly released from prison.
The Indiana Department of Corrections said 44 year old Steven L. Robbins, was serving a 50 year sentence here in Indiana for murder and carrying a handgun without a license.
On January 29th he was taken to Illinois to appear on a drug charge.
The drug charges against Robbins were dropped so Illinois authorities released him instead of bringing him back to his Indiana prison cell.
He wasn’t supposed to be released until 2029.
Robbins is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 190 pounds. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck that says "Nicole."
