Daughtry just kicked off another leg of a tour in support of their third album Break the Spell ...but a fourth album is already underway.
Chris Daughtry recently tweeted about writing some new songs in Nashville, and now, speaking to The Battle Creek Enquirer , Chris says, "I'm...trying to get a jump-start on the writing process for Album Four. I’m not exactly sure when we’re gonna be recording the record or putting it out, but we’re thinking it’ll be sometime this year."
He adds that he wants to start writing now so that the group "can have as many songs as we can before we head into the studio." However, Chris told the Erie Times-News , "We're super-early in the process now...we won't have anything to record until probably late spring or early summer."
As for what the new songs sound like, Chris says, "I can’t even define it. I mean, it’s definitely us, it’s definitely Daughtry, but I don’t think it sounds anything like what we’ve done."
While in Nashville, Chris revealed on Twitter that he was collaborating on songs with Blair Daly , who's had a lot of success creating country hits for acts like Rascal Flatts . Daly also co-wrote Uncle Kracker 's hit "Smile." Chris also tweeted that he was writing with Matt Thiessen , who co-wrote the Owl City / Carly Rae Jepsen duet "Good Times," and who sang on and co-produced the #1 Owl City single "Fireflies."
