A two car accident in Vermillion County Wednesday afternoon sends seven people to the hospital.
It happened around 2:30 in the northbound lanes of State Road 63 at West Market Street near Newport. Police say that a car driven by 18-year-old Hannah Freeman of Newport, attempted to make a left turn onto Market Street and crossed in front of another car driven by 66-year-old Kenneth Mowery of Georgetown, Illinois. Hannah Freeman and her passengers, Charles Freeman, age 19 and Charles J. Freeman Jr. age 9 months were all transported to Union Hospital of Clinton with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Kenneth Mowery and his passengers, Julie Mowery, age 51, Tara Mowery, age 23, and Aryian Acree, age 7 were all transported to Union Hospital of Clinton with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Hannah Freeman was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
All occupants were wearing restraints and/or child seats.
Drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
