J ustin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, U2 and Coldplay are among the top music stars who received nominations Thursday for the 71st Annual Golden Globes, announced Thursday morning in L.A.  They were all nominated in the category of Best Original Song from a Motion Picture.

Justin received his nod for co-writing "Please Mr. Kennedy," from the movie Inside Llewyn Davis , in which he co-stars.  U2 is up for "Ordinary Love," the song they wrote for the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Coldplay's "Atlas," from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is also nominated, and Taylor Swift and fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff are nominated together for "Sweeter than Fiction."  That's the song they co-wrote for the movie One Chance, based on the real-life story of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts .

A notable absence in this category: Ed Sheeran , who was hoping for a nod for his song "I See Fire" for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

This is U2's fourth nomination; they won in 2003. It's Taylor's second; last year, she was up for "Safe and Sound," from The Hunger Games , but lost to Adele's "Skyfall."

The Golden Globe Awards will be handed out Sunday, January 12 on NBC.
