The top five semi-finalists on NBC's The Voice returned to the stage Monday night for another round of performances. Coaches Adam Levine , Blake Shelton , Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green sat in their chairs to dispense their opinions.

The night began with the five contestants teaming up for a performance of American Authors ’ “Best Day of My Life.”

Here’s what happened afterward:

First up for Team Adam was James Wolpert , who was instantly saved by America’s votes last Tuesday. Adam chose U2 ’s “With or Without You” because he felt it was a good match for James -- a rock song with the bravado James liked. Adam thought the performance was “incredible” and “beyond” what he thought James could do. Christina agreed it was a good song choice for James and was glad to hear him sing it. Blake noted that because James was last week’s save, he needed a strong performance and he delivered. Blake said James might have “dug himself out of the hole.”

Next up for Team Adam was Will Champlin . He was given fun. ’s “Carry On” because Adam felt it would give him the chance "to do big things vocally.” Adam pointed out that Will was smiling after the tune was over, a sign that he was happy with his performance -- a rare occurrence for Will. Cee Lo Green thought it was a wonderful song that was well-executed by Will. Blake thought Will let his heart finally open up predicted he would “go a long way in the competition.”

Team Christina’s last remaining artist, Jacquie Lee was given Sarah McLachlan ’s “Angel.” Christina explained that she wanted Jacquie to “take a more soulful perspective and be the voice that allows everyone to escape for a second.” Backed by a choir holding candles, the 16-year-old drew a standing ovation from her coach, who said the performance blew her away and showed a lot of dynamics. Christina felt it was Jacquie’s best performance so far. Cee Lo called the performance “amazing” and agreed she did a “great job.”

Cole Vosbury took on “Shameless,” the Billy Joel song Garth Brooks turned into a country hit. Like Joel, Cole started out the tune sitting behind a piano, eventually shoving the mic stand to the ground and walking to the front of the stage. Blake thought Cole did an “incredible job” and finally figured out who he was and what he wanted to do. Cee Lo agreed and commented that every song Cole performs, he’s delivers like it’s his own.

Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin closed out the night with Simon and Garfunkel ’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” which left Adam speechless, something he didn’t remember happening before. Adam said it was “the most “flawless and graceful performance” he’d ever heard on the show. Blake said it was hard to argue with anything Adam said, adding that he was “happy” for the singer.

Two artists will be eliminated on Tuesday night's results show, airing on NBC at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
