A new food stamp payment schedule goes into effect starting January January 1st in Indiana.
The new schedule is supposed to ease the burden on food pantries and grocery stores at the first of the month when they are swamped by benefit recipients.
Payments will now be spread out over three weeks.
The FSSA says only the dates are changing, not the benefit amounts.
The change is being phased in so families don't have to stretch their December benefits to the last week of January.
