A major overhaul of Illinois’ pension systems is now law after Gov. Pat Quinn signed the pension bill at a private ceremony at the unofficial second capitol in Chicago.
Quinn says that this addresses the most dire fiscal challenge of our time.
Not everyone is happy.
We Are One Illinois, a coalition of unions, issued a quick response to the governor signing the measure and said that every Illinois citizen loses from the cuts that are made.
It is expected the measure will face an immediate court challenge from labor unions.
