A new proposal to make use of Indiana State University’s Statesman Towers.
A report in today’s Trib-Star says that Core Redevelopment of Indianapolis is exploring a possible adaptive re-use of the now vacant towers.
The firm recently renovated Bush Stadium in Indianapolis into the Stadium Lofts apartment complex.
The two 15 story towers were originally built as residence halls, and were later used to house the colleges of Business and Education until their recent move to new facilities.
$4 million dollars has been budgeted to bring down the buildings.
The demolition has now been put on hold for the next 4 to 6 months while the university considers the proposal.
Right now no one is releasing any specifics of that proposal.
The university says that if someone would want to redevelop the property, it would not be anything that would be operated or managed by the university.
