Terre Haute Police are investigating the death of a child near the Vectren building on Terre Haute’s west side.
Just after 2:30 Friday afternoon police were called to the Vectren parking lot next to Fairbanks Park.
Officers found a child that had been discovered unresponsive in a pick-up truck on the business’s west parking lot.
The child, a three year old male, was taken to Union Hospital where the child was pronounced dead.
Police say that the pick-up truck had belonged to the father of the child, who was an employee at Vectren.
Interviews with the father and witnesses indicated that the father had not realized the child was still in the vehicle when he arrived at work at approximately 10:30 A.M.
Information indicated that the child would normally be dropped off at a nearby daycare.
The child was discovered by a co-worker, who called 911.
At this time, the case is still under investigation and has been referred to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
