The Lawrence County Animal Shelter was destroyed by fire last month.
Now the Lawrence County Board has accepted a bid to build a new shelter.
It will cost nearly $60,000 and the goal is to have construction begin within the next two months.
$40,000 of the cost will be paid for with insurance money.
The rest will have to come from the county.
The fire at the shelter is suspicious and believed to have been set.
All animals had been released and none were hurt in the fire.
