Two years ago, no one in the U.S. had ever heard of Ed Sheeran .  Now, he's selling out one of the most famous venues in the country in mere minutes.

Ed's November 1 headlining show at New York City's Madison Square Garden went on sale on Friday, and all the tickets were gone in three minutes.  Ed called the news of the sellout "mental."  Now, a second show has been added for October 29; Ed tweeted that tickets will go on sale after Labor Day.

When news of the headlining show was first announced, Ed tweeted, "My dad always said you haven't made it til you've played MSG so it's a massive honor."

Ed's first show in New York City was in January of 2012, at a club whose capacity is 250.  About a year later, he sold out Radio City Music Hall, which holds about 6,000 people. Madison Square Garden holds roughly 18 to 19,000 people, depending on the event.  He's played there before, but only as an opening act, or as part of a multi-artist bill.
