You’ve heard of Lemon Laws for your car but how about your puppy.
There is a new law in Illinois that is now in place to help pet owners fighting against puppy mills.
Now, pet stores will have to pay for shots before selling to customers.
Advocates say that they hope that this will encourage them to work with reputable breeders.
The Puppy Lemon Law is supposed to protect new pet owners from buying sick or dying animals and it applies to cats and dogs. If an owner finds their pet is sick just after buying it, they can now get a full refund or have a pet store reimburse the veterinarian costs.
No word on what happens to the pets.
