Gov. Mike Pence has named Dwayne Sawyer as Indiana's next state auditor.
Sawyer’s term will run through the end of 2014, with that office up for election next year.
Sawyer plans to run for election.
Sawyer comes to his new position from the Brownsburg Town Council, where he's been president since 2012.
Sawyer is a financial analyst and information technology specialist.
Former Auditor Tim Berry resigned Wednesday to begin working fulltime as the new state Republican Party chairman.
