A West Terre Haute couple facing multiple neglect charges will be in court later this week.
Kenneth and Tracy Walling are facing 24 felony counts of animal neglect and two counts of child neglect and other misdemeanor charges after being arrested at their MarionHeights home.
More charges may yet be filed.
Bail for each is set at $25,000 cash only.
A hearing on formal charges will take place Wednesday.
Police removed two dozen animals, including several small dogs, two cats and a parrot from the home Thursday.
Police went to the home originally on an animal complaint, and because Kenneth Walling was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court. That is when officers found a foul odor coming from the home, dog feces, trash, dirty diapers littering the home and three dead dogs in the basement.
Tracy Walling’s 74 year old mother owns the home.
She was removed by Adult Protective services.
The home has been deemed unfit for habitation by the health department.
The two dozen animals have all been taken by the Terre Haute Humane Society.
If you can help the shelter with this major influx of mistreated animals give them a call.
