A year ago at this time a large number of farmers were already finished planting their corn.
Then the moisture never came and everything suffered.
This year we’ve received so much rain that the planting still hasn’t started.
It’s not just the wet soil keeping the farmers out of the field though.
Soil temperatures are still about 5-10 degrees below what they would like to see before putting the corn in the ground.
So for now, farmers will simply have to wait for conditions to improve.
