Flooding In The Valley

Heavy rains over the past week have caused flooding through out the WabashValley.

The Wabash was expected to crest at around 31 feet over the weekend in Montezuma.

In other areas of the WabashValley residents were making use of sand bags and mad sure that personal possessions were put up high and dry.

More rain is expected this week.

Meanwhile a levee in southern VigoCounty has failed.

The levee has reportedly failed 3 or 4 locations that are about 2.5 feet wide within a 30 foot section.

The Vigo County Emergency Management Agency said the levee failure happened near Dresser, just west of Prairieton.

An area West Kennet Drive and Arbucle Place look to be the most affected.

Crews have been conducting sandbagging operations in that area.

In Illinois, 40 Counties have been declaired disaster areas due to flooding.
