The extension is worth a reported $25 million annually for football.
The new deal will begin in 2016 and run through 2025.
NBC has held Notre Dame football TV rights since 1991 and with the new deal the television network will air a minimum of 7 Irish football games each year. The contract also allows for games to be carried on the NBC Sports Network cable channel.
The Irish averaged 4.4 million viewers in 2012 with a 69% increase from 2011.
The new deal will also allow greater exposure for Notre Dame football and other sports teams.
