A police chase last night ends with a crash and the suspect in jail.
Vigo County Dispatch received a call about a domestic disturbance taking place inside a moving vehicle on US41 in southern Vigo County.
Witnesses report a woman had jumped from a red Chevrolet pickup and that the man driving the truck then tried to run the woman down.
An off duty officer later spotted the truck and the chase was on.
The truck ran the light at US41/Springhill and hit another car that then hit the sheriff’s car that then hit another vehicle.
No serious injuries were reported due to the accident.
The suspect was identified as 28 year old Shane Michael Jenkins of Rosedale.
He tried to run on foot but didn’t get far.
The truck he was driving was stolen and so was the license plate on the truck.
Jenkins was taken to the hospital to test for drugs and alcohol, and that’s when he slipped out of the handcuffs and ran.
Police say that he had enough time to break into a car in the parking lot of Union Hospital before being apprehended a second time.
Jenkins was wanted on a warrant for auto theft out of Parke County and now he is facing multiple charges related to last night’s chase.
He will be in court today.
Police say that they think they know who the female victim is but they have not been able to talk to her yet.
