Decision On New Power Line Might Come By Mid_August

A decision on the construction of Ameren’s Illinois Rivers Transmission project, which would end in VigoCounty, is expected to be made by mid-August. Ameren of Illinois is proposing a 380-mile, 340,000-volt transmission line that would interconnect Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.

It’s a project that has already drawn opposition in Illinois from EdgarCounty officials and businesses in ClarkCounty. The case is in the rebuttal phase which ends April 26th

Hearings are scheduled to begin May 13.

The chairman of the Edgar County Board has expressed opposition to the proposed line.

Ameren says that there is a preferred and secondary route plus other possible alternative routes.

The transmission line would end in VigoCounty.

Duke Energy said the company would construct and own about one mile of line to connect to the company’s Dresser Station.
