Yesterday we told you about authorities making a gruesome discovery of nearly 100 dead animals and another 30 malnourished animals on a farm in Madison County.
Now investigators said that they have found a pit, described as a concrete bunker, on the property of Carrie and Daniel Ault in which the decayed carcasses of 50 to 100 more animals were discovered.
The discovery brings the total number of dead animals at the farm to nearly 200.
Along with all of the dead and mistreated animals, buckets of human feces were also found in the barn.
Investigators said the Aults had helped run the Strawtown Auction in Hamilton County and had been buying and selling animals there.
Daniel Ault recently bought a meat processing facility in Grant County, but detectives did not say if he used animals from his farm for meat.
The couple's children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
