She lives! Adele has finally broken her self-imposed Twitter silence, which dates back to October, about a week before her son was born. Now, she hasn't done anything crazy like, say, confirm the birth, or reveal her kid's name. Instead, she's thanking fans for her huge sales milestone.
"Shine bright like a diamond!" writes Adele, quoting Rihanna 's #1 hit "Diamonds." "US fans, we just hit 10 million copies over on your side of the pond! Thanks :) xx."
Adele's comments refer to the fact that her album 21 is now "Diamond" certified for sales of 10 million copies. Adele is the only British artist in history ever to earn a Diamond certification for an album in less than two years. In a previous statement, the singer said, "What an incredible honor. A huge, huge thank you to my American fans for embracing this record on such a massive level." Worldwide, 21 has sold about 25 million copies.
In other Adele news, the British tabloid The Daily Star claims that the new mother has received a care package of gifts for her baby and herself from James Bond himself.
A source tells the paper that actor Daniel Craig wanted to thank Adele for her amazing theme from Skyfall by sending her some limited-edition James Bond memorabilia, including a miniature Aston Martin car, framed photos, an Omega watch, a set of martini glasses and onesies by Tom Ford , the same designer who dressed Craig in Skyfall .
Said the source, "Daniel has the utmost respect for Adele and her work...She was the ultimate professional and he’s thrilled she’s a new mum. He sent her a handwritten letter with the gifts.”
