City planners are making progress toward a new home for Terre Haute Police Department.

Last month, the Department of Redevelopment approved financing a new headquarters.

The next step will include a consultant talking with police department heads to come up with a needs analysis.

Then, the project goes to the design phase to come up with something that will last for years to come.

Designing will begin either January or February of next year.

Groundbreaking is expected to start spring of 2014.
